Meetup Events Scraper Dataset Overview

Data Collection

The script collects the following event information from Meetup.com:

1. Event name
2. Organizer name
3. Participant count
4. Event date and time
5. Venue name and address
6. Attendance fee
7. Event URL
8. Price level (from Google Places API)
9. Rating (from Google Places API)
10. First review (from Google Places API)

These data are saved to a CSV file for easy access and analysis.

The generated dataset provides valuable insights into the local Meetup event landscape within a specific geographic area (2‑mile radius). Users can choose to retrieve events for today or tomorrow. The dataset is particularly useful for the following users:

Usage

1. Clone the repository
2. Install the required dependencies
3. Ensure the Chromedriver executable is installed and added to the system PATH
4. Run the Python script
5. The script will start scraping Meetup.com events and output the results to the meetup_events.csv file
6. The console will display a summary of the total number of scraped events

Limitations

• Some Meetup listings lack location information or have inaccurate locations, in which case the program may fail to extract correct data.
• If the provided city/region name or state abbreviation is invalid, the site will auto‑detect a location and scrape nearby areas. Ensure correct city and state names are entered for consistent results.
